Another SCO Moronic Monday

Ah yes, what would a Monday be without something new and idiotic from our good friends at SCO?  "A great deal less annoying" I hear you say?

Fiddlesticks!

So their latest charming claim is that the GPL (GNU General Public License) is unconstitutional. And actually, I agree with them.

I'm sure it is against the Constitution of the Zah'ggranthian Federation, or wherever the hell it is that these nimrods actually come from.

I don't think it's against any of the Constitutions on this planet, however. But we shall see, I suppose ...

I Finally Got a FreeBSD Commit Bit

Yee-haw. I can now directly fix problems in the FreeBSD ports collection (the place where the glue logic lives to install applications on the FreeBSD operating system). Readers of this space may know that I've been tinkering around with it for quite some time now.

Interesting article on Linux vs Windows in InformationWeek

Various users were surveyed and the results are reported in this article. There's an interesting hidden statistic in this.

While about 37% of the users cited one of their concerns about Linux being "accountability in case of problems", nearly as many (30%) cited the same thing about Microsoft.

I take this to mean that while people worry they might not be able to get bugs fixed using the open-source model, they already know that they are not much more likely to get relief from Microsoft.

They just haven't realized it yet.
