Ready to get rid of your Microsoft system yet?

Here's a very even-handed report on the pros and cons of moving away from Microsoft and onto a Linux distribution. (Although not addressed by name, the comments apply equally to moving to one of the BSD projects).

Executive summary: most people probably still will need a nerd friend to run interference for them, but less and less as every month goes by. Considering the substantial drawbacks to staying with Microsoft, which this report doesn't mention, the choice is looking better and better.
